Plastics are all around us. Chemically among polymers, i.e. chemical compounds which were obtained by chain monomers. Usually, by the nature of the monomers or typical chemical bond with the plastics sorting. The most common polymers are polyolefins, which are based on olefins (alkenes) such as ethylene, propylene, and others. These materials can be found in almost all applications listed below. Other alkenes (e.g. butadiene) forms the basis of synthetic rubbers. When incorporated into the polymer structure in addition to carbon and hydrogen, other chemical elements, obtained e.g. polyvinyl chloride, a typical material for covering and waterproofing membrane. Wide group consisting of polyesters, with which we can meet in the form of reactive resin bonding laminates or artificial stone are overlooked as PET bottles or polyester fibers in textile materials. In the form of fibers are used also polyamides which are used also for the production of gears and other industrial applications. In the binders can not be ignored epoxy resins, which are able to firmly connect a wide range of materials. They are used therefore in the production of composites, bonded construction supporting elements for gluing in households. Builders in many cases work easier mounting polyurethane foam. There is a practice used in almost inexhaustible plenty of polymeric materials, including bio-polymers, etc., And more are being developed. Said a very limited list of applications several groups of polymers shows that the use of plastics is very diverse, with slight exaggeration to say that wherever it could replace conventional materials.
