ALCOAT PROJECT
Team
Our consortium comprises eight partners, each of them bringing specific knowledge and research capabilities to the ALCOAT project. They are based in five European countries and in Australia and include research centres, universities, large industries, and small companies.

University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (Vysoka skola chemicko-technologicka v Praze, UCT) is a natural centre of first-rate study and research in the area of chemistry in Czechia. It is one of the largest educational and research institutions in Central Europe focused on technical chemistry, chemical and biochemical technologies, material and chemical engineering, food chemistry, and environmental studies. According to the prestigious Times Higher Education rankings, UCT ranks among 4% of the best universities in the world. UCT is responsible for project coordination, preparation and characterization of model alloys, electrochemical measurements, a laboratory study of the risk of hydrogen embrittlement, and life-cycle cost (LCA) and total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses.

RISE RESEARCH INSTITUTES OF SWEDEN AB (RISE), is Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner. Through international collaboration programmes with industry, academia and the public sector, it ensures the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level and contributes to a sustainable society. Its 2,800 employees participate in and support all types of innovation processes. RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute, which offers unique expertise and over 100 testbeds and demonstration environments for future-proof technologies, products, and services. RISE will take care of field and laboratory corrosion testing, determination of the composition of corrosion products, and field tests of the hydrogen embrittlement risk. |

Centrum výzkumu Řež s.r.o. (CVR) is a research, development, and innovation organization dedicated to sustainable energy, with a particular focus on nuclear power and next-generation energy systems. Its research activities span a wide range of fields, with a strong emphasis on materials research and extending the operational lifetime of existing nuclear power plants. CVR is also engaged in the development of advanced nuclear reactors, nuclear fusion technologies, and small modular reactors. Other key research areas include nuclear waste management and disposal, nuclear safety, energy storage, and education and training for the next generation of scientists and engineers. In addition to its strong focus on nuclear energy, CVR provides research, development, and technical services to a broad range of industrial sectors. Tata Steel Nederland Technology B.V. (Tata Steel) is ranked by worldsteel as the ninth global steel company with an annual crude steel capacity of 30 million tons (year: 2019). It is one of the world's most geographically diversified steel producers, with operations in 26 countries and a commercial presence in more than 50 countries. In Europe, Tata Steel is the third-ranked steel producer with an annual crude steel capacity of 10 million tons. Tata Steel has an integrated UK-NL research department that covers all specific areas of expertise related to steel production processes and strip manufacturing. Tata Steel will develop the technology and produce hot dip coatings. It will also lead the exploitation activities and provide industrial expertise to the project. |

Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is a research centre based in Barcelona, Spain, focused on nanoscience and nanotechnology, and is especially strong in atomistic simulations of the structure and properties of materials. ICN2 has received the prestigious “Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence Award” from the Spanish Ministry of Science for three consecutive 4-year periods (2014–2018, 2018–2022 and 2023-2026). ICN2 is responsible for incorporation of molecular modelling approaches into the model, down to the atomistic scale. |

RMIT Europe (RMIT), located in Barcelona, Spain, is the European hub of RMIT University (RMIT-Uni), Australia’s largest and most internationally recognised tertiary institution with more than 90 000 students. RMIT-Uni enjoys an international reputation for excellence in professional and practical education, applied and innovative research. It is one of the top 100 universities in the world in a variety of disciplines including in Engineering (Civil and Structural; Electrical and Electronic; and mechanical, aerospace and Manufacturing) and Computer Science; University is the first and (to date) the only Australian entity to achieve HRS4R (HR Excellence in Research) accreditation. RMIT will be responsible for the computational modelling for in silica design of the ALCOAT coatings to keep aluminium active. |

Pyrogenesis SA (PYRO) is a Greek innovative, knowledge-based SME, which develops and commercializes technologies and products in the field of advanced materials and coating technologies. The company was founded 24 years ago. The continuous strategic objective of PYRO is to enrich its production tools with novel coating techniques and materials. PYRO will help develop thermal spray coatings and ensure their industrial application in the marine sector. |
