Kralupy nad Vltavou lies on the lower watercourse of Vltava river, in a distance 20 km from north outskirts of Prague in district of Mělník. The town have appproximately 18 000 inhabitants and it belongs to greatest towns of region of central Czech.
Kralupy are the traditional town of chemical and food processing industry and transport. It is a railway junction of several local lines and it lies on main railway line Prague - Děčín - Dresden.
The town is the administrative, school and culture center of region Down Vltava.
